Dr. Romero is the Section Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. His research interests include the molecular pathogenesis, molecular diagnostics, molecular epidemiology and therapy of enteroviral infections; the diagnosis, prevention and therapy of respiratory syncytial virus infections; and vaccine clinical trials. At ACRI, Dr. Romero is currently conducting therapeutic, epidemiologic, and antiviral or prevention studies for the treatment of HSV, CMV, influenza, RSV, incidence of hepatitis C and pharmacokinetics of novel antibiotics for pediatric use. As Director of Clinical Trials Research at ACRI, Dr. Romero assists in the development of clinical trials policies, operating procedures, and new programs to facilitate and promote clinical trials on the ACRI and ACH campuses.
