Important Update: NICU Flu Visitation Guidelines

This year’s flu season is among the most serious in recent years. Young children and infants are at a very high risk for serious complications from the flu. Learn more about how Arkansas Children's is helping protect your baby and get the answers to your most frequently asked questions.

 

You can't go anywhere in Arkansas without hearing about the flu right now! It's everywhere, and we're still at the beginning of the season.

The Arkansas Children's Hospital Emergency Department has some tips for families and shared them with Channel 7, KATV, this week.

First, Dr. Shane McKinney says, it's NOT too late to get the shot. This is on track to be an especially bad flu season that runs through the spring. Go get a shot now if you haven't already. 

He also has tips on when to go to the doctor and what treatments will ease the experience.

We continue to see that the 2018 flu shot provides protection, shortens illness and lessens symptoms, further protecting babies who are too young to take the shot. For more info on how that works, visit the CDC website.
