Imagine being hundreds of miles away from the hospital or the medical team your child needs the most, with no way to access care.
An effective health care delivery system ensures patients can readily receive care throughout their health journey by providing a broad range of services across locations throughout the region to meet the needs of their patients. These services aim to minimize gaps in care, promote care coordination and include a continuum of care spanning virtual health management, outpatient low-acuity service sites and, as needed, acute care hospitals, which are used for the most intensive situations and for the sickest children.
Core Team Strategies

Expand outpatient services to ensure we are the leading regional provider of highly specialized care, serving the sickest children in the five-state area, with specific focus on heart, brain, head and neck, spine and genetic concerns.

Elevate critical care access by expanding pediatric critical care in northwest Arkansas and statewide neonatology capabilities, effectively coordinating service sites and improving quality.

Launch a virtual health management program for chronic disease, based in the delta that utilizes community partners, telehealth and mobile strategies to augment ancillary and care coordination needs.

Anchor pediatric services in northeast Arkansas in partnership with local communities.

Create a consumer-first model for primary and preventative care in central and northwest Arkansas with a focus on easy and quick access, digital communication and efficiency in care.

Develop a clinical trials network, collaborating with other centers as needed, to ensure every patient is within reach of emerging research and care.

We must deliver solutions for the vast majority of children who receive care close to home in our most populated communities, the children who are most in need of a solution and those who are the sickest and farthest away. We must ensure Arkansas Children's: Serves as the local provider of choice in markets where Arkansas Children's already provides a full continuum of local, primary and preventative care services. Provides specialized services for complex and critically ill children regardless of geography. Utilizes innovative tactics such as next-generation telehealth and partnerships to reach families and providers who are separated by long distances from physical sites of service.
