Interventional Radiology uses imaging to perform a variety of minimally invasive procedures. With interventional radiology, patients have the least amount of procedural risk and pain and the fastest recovery times. Most procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis with same-day discharge.
Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JNA), the most common benign tumor of the head and neck, can be treated by our pediatric experts.
Slow flow vascular malformations are first noticed either at birth or in early childhood. Treatment varies and may include sclerotherapy or surgery.
Superior vena cava syndrome (SVC syndrome) is a constellation of symptoms caused by occlusion of the large vein that drains the head and upper body.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a medication into a vascular malformation, which causes them to shrink.
When there is symptomatic chronic narrowing or closure of a vein, venous recanalization can be undertaken to reopen the vein and improve symptoms.
Embolization (closing blood vessels) is a proven treatment for varicoceles. Indications to treat varicoceles include symptoms (such as pain or heaviness) and preservation of fertility.
A lumbar puncture is used to collect a sample of the fluid that surrounds the brain or spinal cord to make a diagnosis and treat conditions.
When a patient has a persistent spinal headaches, an epidural blood patch may help relieve the symptoms.
Arterial embolization can be used to treat a variety of tumors and certain types of vascular malformations.
A peripherally inserted central (venous) catheter (PICC line for short) is a type of long term IV.
Percutaneous ablation is a technique to treat tumors through the use of specialized needles. The needles ablate (destroy) the tumor using heat or cold.
When back pain is caused by pressure on a nerve root, spondylolysis, or is severe and diffuse, a targeted injection may help with the pain.
Thrombolysis (dissolution of clot) and thrombectomy (removal of clot) can be performed to treat extensive deep venous thrombosis (clots).
A Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) block treats migraines and migraine-like headaches through the use of a numbing injection.
