Dermatology Clinic
When your child needs care for a skin condition, the highly specialized dermatology doctors at Arkansas Children’s will manage the condition with the right treatment to help your child look good and feel happy.
Our pediatric dermatology team uses the most technologically advanced procedures to care for your child’s specific condition.
Possible Conditions
We provide comprehensive skin care for common and complex dermatology conditions, including:
- Acne is a persistent skin condition that causes pimples when pores become clogged.
- Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is dry, scaly patches of itchy skin.
- Birthmarks can be colored (pigmented) marks on the skin or pink, red or purple (vascular) growths caused by malformed blood vessels.
- Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition where extra skin cells build, causing itchy scales and red patches.
- Warts are skin growths from a virus that infects that op layer of skin.
Possible Treatments
We use a multidisciplinary approach to treat skin conditions and partner with experts throughout the field of pediatrics as needed. Treatments include oral and topical therapies, as well as:
- Biologics. These medicines are derived from living cell cultures that produce certain proteins. Biologics are used to treat psoriasis.
- Lasers. We use a variety of lasers to treat many skin conditions. Lasers use different wavelengths of energy and can reduce the appearance of red birthmarks and acne scars.
- We put your child first. This allows our dermatology team to deliver the best outcomes and care, from diagnosis to follow-up treatment.
Your Visit
When you come to the dermatology clinic, please bring any past medical records, especially from visits with other dermatologists. Old records can be helpful. The Dermatology clinic is located on the 2nd Floor of the South Wing, (within the ENT Clinic).
