Dr. Richard Blaszak is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). A native of Chicago, Ill, Dr. Blaszak received his undergraduate degree in 1987 from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1991. He studied pediatrics at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, completing his internship and residency in 1992. He then completed his Pediatric Nephrology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH in 1999.

Dr. Blaszak joined the medical staff of ACH in July of 1999 and currently serves as the Division Chief for Pediatric Nephrology, Medical Directory of the Kidney Transplant Program, and the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program. He specializes in kidney transplantation, acute and chronic kidney disease including end-stage kidney disease and renal replacement therapy with peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).

Dr. Blaszak is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. He is a member of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, International Pediatric Transplant Association, International Society of Nephrology, Society for Pediatric Research, Association of Pediatric Program Directors, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and American Society of Transplantation.
