Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound is available to patients at Arkansas Children's. This type of ultrasound is commonly used to diagnose vesicoureteric reflux, focal liver lesions, and mild blunt abdominal trauma. It is beneficial for pediatric patients because it does not use ionizing radiation which can have harmful effects. The exam is more comfortable because patients are placed in a comfortable ultrasound bed and are able to be comforted by family members. This examination is also a safe option for patients with renal conditions or patients who cannot receive CT or MRI contrast.
