The Gastroenterology (GI) Lab is a procedural lab conducting sedated and unsedated tests on patients with gastrointestinal complaints. Each patient must have been seen by a gastroenterologist with privileges to conduct tests in the lab.

GI Lab Procedures

  • EGD
  • Colonoscopy
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • Esophageal motility
  • Imaging capsule
  • pH probe
  • Esophageal intraluminal impedance studies
  • Breath hydrogen collection (for lactose or sucrose intolerance) and 13C urea breath test for H. pylori.
  • Upper GI series
  • Barium swallow study

Radiology Procedures

  • Liver biopsies
  • Lower GI series (barium or hypaque enema)
