Dr. Courtney's research interests are neonatal pulmonology and supportive ventilation of the neonate. Currently, as Director of Clinical Research for Neonatology, she directs a variety of multicenter trials and mentors many of our neonatal fellows. These studies do not just investigate the lung and the treatment of lung disease, but other areas including drug therapies and feeding practices. We have several data analysis studies that are ongoing as well.
Arkansas Children's Hospital has the only Arkansas Department of Health-designated Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the state. Arkansas Children's Hospital has created the Arkansas Children's Hospital Nursery Alliance to support hospitals around the state so that their patients and families can receive care closer to home.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides a full range of medical services for at-risk and critically ill infants throughout the state. We are the only Level 4 NICU in the state, which means we provide the highest level of NICU care available.
Arkansas Children's Hospital neonatal neurocritical care program is a multidisciplinary effort between neonatology and neurology providing therapeutic hypothermia, or whole-body cooling, to newborns. The specialized team improves survival rates and provides advanced treatments and research opportunities.
Led by Ashley S. Ross, M.D., our nursery alliance offers training and resources to partner hospitals, focusing on best practices and community health initiatives. Their goal is to learn from each other through collaborative education and support.
