An important advantage of the team approach is that the professionals are in direct and continuous communication about your child's care. Each team member is aware of your child's specific needs and progress and is able to make recommendations for appropriate care. The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at Arkansas Children's has been achieving excellent results with this interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the most complex facial conditions.
Children's facial abnormalities and injuries require special attention. Facial trauma can range between minor injuries to disfigurement that lasts a lifetime. The face is critical in interacting with others, so it is important to get the best treatment possible. Pediatric facial trauma differs from adult injury because a child's face is not fully formed and future growth may be a factor as the child heals and recovers. Difficult cases require physicians with great skill to do a repair that will help ensure that your child grows normally.
The specialists at Arkansas Children's are skilled at treating a wide variety of facial conditions. Some of those commonly seen at our hospital

The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team members evaluate each child on a regular basis and, together, they develop a plan and adjust the plan as the child grows.
