Many tests and procedures require that children hold still in a particular position for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. Sedation is the use of a sedative to help children relax. It can help minimize a child's fears and anxiety during a test or procedure.

A sedation service is a dedicated team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or nurses who provide sedation. These sedation teams have developed across the world to improve access to safe sedation for children.

At Arkansas Children's, we know that one size definitely doesn't fit all when it comes to your child, which is why the Pediatric Sedation Team is so dedicated to providing right-sized care in a safe and compassionate way.

This designation is currently held by 10 children's hospitals nationwide for meeting or exceeding the highest quality standards of the SPS. Congratulations to Dr. Abdallah Dalabih, Dana Thomas and the entire Pediatric Sedation Team for this achievement.
