The Gynecology Clinic performs consultations, evaluations and medical and surgical treatments for children, adolescents and young adults with gynecologic problems. Referrals may be made directly to this clinic.

    Care Provided:

  • Conditions evaluated and treated include menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, gynecologic infections, including sexually transmitted infections, pelvic/ ovarian masses, endometriosis, abnormal Pap smears, congenital abnormalities of the female genital tract, condyloma, delayed puberty, precocious puberty and contraceptive management.
  • Gynecologic problems related to other medical disorders (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hematologic disorders, diabetes)
  • Gynecologic preventive health care

  • We have the only two fellowship trained Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecologists in the state.

Your Visit to the Gynecology Clinic

Before the Visit

  • Please make sure you bring a list of your child's (the patient's) medications, including the name, dose and how often it is taken. 
  • Please make sure you have your insurance card, ID and co-pay. 
  • If there are records that you feel are related to the gynecologic issue or that you would like us to review, please ask your provider to fax them to us. 

During the Visit

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. 
  • Check-in at the Welcome touch screen or with someone at the front desk. 
  • A nurse or tech will call you and your child back to an exam room where a weight, height and blood pressure will be taken.
  • Your child may be asked to urinate in a cup in a private bathroom, with your assistance if needed.
  • Your physician will meet with you to go over the medical history and perform a physical exam as needed. A pelvic examination is NOT always necessary and will be performed only if indicated and after discussed with the patient. 
  • Our team consists of physicians, nurses, patient care technicians, residents from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences OB/GYN and Pediatrics Departments, and medical and nursing students. Each team member will introduce themselves to you if they are involved in your care.

What if my child needs surgery?

  • After evaluating your child through the Gynecology Clinic, our specialist will recommend the best course of treatment which may include surgery. They will explain the benefits and risks to you, creating a plan that works best for your family.
  • If surgery is required, a surgery scheduler will work with you and the surgeon to arrange a date. To schedule surgery, please call our office at 501-364-6601.

Our specialists include two board-certified OB/GYNs who have completed fellowship training in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Your child will also benefit from the care of our specialty nurses who have training in Pediatric Gynecology as well.

We understand that a gynecology visit can be stressful. Our team approaches patients and their families with compassion and the resources to make their treatment easier and comfortable.

A referral to our clinic is not required. However, you may have been referred by your child's pediatrician or another OB/GYN. We may have received records or background information but will appreciate any context you can provide.
