Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) provides specialty medical services for children, adolescents and selected young adults with physical disabilities.
Other services provided include:
- Diagnoses include, but are not limited to cerebral palsy and related conditions, congenital musculoskeletal abnormalities, disabilities, brain injury, and others for follow-up after inpatient rehabilitation
- Depending on availability, coordinate same day appointments for interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment by PT, OT, audiology, orthotics and prosthetics, radiology, social work and psychology
- Coordinate other subspecialty referrals and appointments
- Services of Botox injections, intrathecal baclofen pump refills, other medication adjustments for spasticity
- Educational and therapy programs, feeding, swallowing, nutrition and oral health, seating and mobility, communication, gait and walking aids such as braces, crutches and walker
- Outside therapists and/or teachers are welcome to attend with children and families when appropriate
- Cooperate with outside agencies and referral sources to provide for coordination of care
- Periodic outreach clinics offered at various sites throughout Arkansas
- Not a substitute for primary care physicians, but communicates with them and is available to them for consultation on any disability related medical issues
